Eucharist Window: 71”W x
14’ H
Mouth-blown glass, primarily
flashed opalescent glass, with hand painted details.
All the windows in this new
church were designed together to create a harmonious and peaceful environment
while offering a contemporary interpretation of familiar themes. In “Eternal
Life,” situated above the chancel area, the sun represents God and the
circular movement echoes the shape of the window symbolizing eternity.
The flames of red represent the Holy Spirit and the three winged shapes
symbolize the Holy Trinity.Opposite this is “The Annunciation” window,
showing the angel Gabriel speaking to Mary and giving her strength and
comfort symbolized by the wings that reach out to her. To maintain cohesiveness
throughout the sanctuary, the two predominant colors of the rose windows
– blues and grays are repeated throughout the sanctuary. In the “Eucharist”
window, behind the chalice is the table of the Last Supper and below is
a globe representing the world and the basin and towel symbolizing washing
of the feet. The glass softly radiates throughout the church and into the
community as the opalescent flashed glass has a remarkable quality of being
ornamental from both inside and out.
