Jacob's Dream

The garden consists of a rock fountain and baptismal pool, a figurative bronze piece, and a landscaped site consisting of cut and natural limestone. The descriptive account of Jacob's dream (Genesis 28) provided the inspiration for the garden. The artist sought to create a space where the viewer might find his or her heart echoing Jacob's words, "Surely the Lord is in this place, and I knew it not." The basic footprint of the site (not shown above, but shown on the ML cover) is evocative of the Trinity. Engraved scriptures on the limestone pillars provide spiritual focus and guidance. The bronze angels suggest God's continual presence "whither thou goest"  to the four corners of the earth.
