Description: The
Editor of Ministry & Liturgy
magazine is responsible for planning the content for future volumes and
issues of Ministry & Liturgy
within the context of an overall editorial vision or plan, and then to
obtain publication rights and usable manuscripts (text, art, and other
components) to fill out the future issues of Ministry & Liturgy,
and other projects which are derived for the same audience.
Specific operating responsibilities include: assist in periodic
updating of the three year editorial plan and acquisition strategy;
accumulate potential project ideas and article ideas; contribute names
and addresses to the potential author pool; screen appropriate incoming
articles and proposed articles and recommend rejection or
consideration; identify and clarify compelling unique features of every
appropriate proposed project which is recommended for consideration;
plan and execute follow-up queries to authors; obtain biographical data
and photos from authors; assess audience and competition for
appropriate proposed projects; verify author's literary competence and
commitment; verify authors subject-credibility (with peer review if
appropriate); arrange for inter-departmental feasibility studies of
proposed projects; and serve as an intermediary with appropriate
authors and contributors.
Qualifications: An
appropriate academic background plus three or more years of applicable
experience.
